New Vacancies

Why work with Trauma Breakthrough

Trauma and abuse are experienced by 1 in every 3 people in the UK.

Think about the number of people in your workplace, in the supermarket queue, on the bus – the number of survivors around us is HUGE. But there are very few support services for those struggling, meaning those around us are often carrying the long-term impact of trauma in silence.

As a charity, we are passionate about making trauma-informed support accessible for everyone.

And you can be part of that…

If you would like to join an energised, inclusive, and supportive team of therapists, trainees, and support team, please find out open vacancies below.

Psychotherapist / Counsellor
(part-time 7.5-22.5 hours per week)

We are delighted to have been awarded funding towards the development of a special complex needs service for individuals who have experienced multiple traumas, ACEs, or are living through difficult circumstances that add extra layers to their therapy work.
Therefore we are are looking to recruit experienced psychotherapists/counsellors to join our team to help us build on our current services to survivors.

The successful candidate will be passionate and committed to helping survivors of trauma and abuse to overcome adversity and make a full recovery. They will already have a track record of working with trauma survivors and navigating the challenges of working with complex emotional needs. And we value CVs that show experience in these areas even if qualifications have come later – experience and passion are so important in supporting survivors.

Successful candidates will be resilient, and will have the ability to engage with clients in a way that is authentic, empowering and adapted to their individual needs. They will be willing to challenge limiting or disempowering assumptions, attitudes and behaviours; not only within the client, but within themselves and the wider social context.
They will be confident in managing clients exhibiting high risk behaviours, and will have the capacity and care needed to connect and stay with them in their distress and mess. The role will include a mix of clinical assessment, support planning, individual sessions, facilitating psychotherapy groups and psychoeducational groups, and attending team meetings, alongside day-to-day support centre input.

Essential Attributes:

  • At least 1 year post qualification experience OR extensive ‘hands-on’ work with survivors in a clinical or support context.
  • Experience of working with survivors of trauma and abuse with a particular emphasis on clients who are dissociative and/or who have other complex mental health needs.
  • Experience facilitating or co-facilitating therapeutic and psychoeducation groups.
  • The ability to work in an integrative way, rather than being confined to a single therapeutic modality.
  • The post holder will be accredited with the UKCP or BACP or equivalent, and will work within the codes of practice of the relevant body.

Location:

The post-holder will work mainly at the Trauma Breakthrough Support Centre in Bath. From time to time they may be asked to work from other locations.

Type of Contract:

This post is initially offered as a sessional contract, with the possibility of development into fixed term contract, funding dependent.

Pay Scale:

From £21 to £23 per hour depending on experience.

Closing Date and Interviews:

We have set 19th November and 29th November aside for interviews. If you are offered an interview but cannot make either of these days, please discuss with us.
